The third Wednesday of the month also brings a special opportunity for worship:  our Mid-Month Communion Service, at 1 PM.  This service was begun as an opportunity for our older or shut-in members to be able to gather in one another's company, but it has grown to include anyone who would like to share a mid-month, daytime worship opportunity, in an informal setting.  Using the Order for Communion from The Lutheran Hymnal (a liturgy familiar to older or longtime Lutherans, seldom still used in churches today), this service is preceded by a light meal at Noon — most often soup and sandwiches. Feel free to join us in the Church Basement for either time, but we do request a "reservation" one day ahead for the meal — just contact the Church Office to let us know you are coming (913-682-0387; office@splcs.org).
