Katherine de La Cruz, Accountant
Katherine de La Cruz was born a "military brat" in Lawton, Oklahoma. She has lived in Schwabach, Germany; Fort Knox, Kentucky; El Paso, Texas; and Leavenworth, Kansas. Finally, after her family put down roots in Leavenworth, she graduated from Leavenworth High School. During her high school, Katherine helped found the youth branch of the Leavenworth Lion's Club, the Leavenworth Leo's. She served as its president and initiated such service projects as "Flags for 4th Graders," and "School Supplies for Kosovo."
Katherine earned her Associate of Arts degree in 2006 at Kansas City Kansas Community College — where she was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the Junior College Honor Society. During her undergraduate studies at University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008 with a double major in Marketing and Finance. Her double minor included accounting and theology. Remaining at USM, Katherine earned her MBA in 2009 with an emphasis in Advertising.
Katherine is the middle of three children: her older brother, John, is a web designer in Denver, Colorado; her younger sister, Maryann, works as a patient intake supervisor at Children's Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. "Extended" is certainly the correct word to describe Katherine's family — her father and step-mother have both recently retired from the U.S. Army and reside in Greencastle, Pennsylvania (with her two younger brothers Paul and Luke); Katherine's mother and step-father are residing in Europe working on contracts in the Ukraine and Germany. Katherine married Gustavo de la Cruz (a native of Mexico) in April 2013.
Katherine has been on the staff of St. Paul as Accountant since June of 2012.
